I am expecting he is called Southerly, after the wind. It is an excellent image, too, Lisl.
Lisl: Thank you, Ray - this is so very odd for a cinema
Très joli avec sa barbe nouée ainsi.
Lisl: It makes quite a long garland, Martine
What a great detail you found Elisabeth, and captured it very well.
Lisl: Thank you, Frank. It was built in 1920–1921 and formerly had a ballroom, billiard room and restaurant
This is wonderful!! I love the detail you show!
Lisl: Thank you, Elizabeth - it was full of quirks like this
The sculpture is superb and so is the rendering of the stone. I also really like the letters engraved on the facade which go well with the style of the whole
Lisl: It is a fine building altogether with good detail, built in 1921

Do I remember this as a 1920s type building Lisl?

Nice foliate head
Lisl: Yes indeed, Chris - 1921 by La Trobe. I was gobsmacked to come across it

a fascinating detail!
Lisl: Of which there were many....
What a great find. I wonder what it is like inside?
Lisl: Perhaps I will have a look inside next time - will be back in Whiteladies Road on Saturday
Cette sculpture est vraiment superbe et surtout bien entretenue
Lisl: It was one of many on the building, Claudine

Whiteladies picture House sounds like something from apartheid Lisl. That is if you didn’t know the area.
Lisl: It does, and I hadn't taken that in, Chad, so familiar am I with the name

Does it still show good ‘World cinema’ films Asan independent cinema?
Lisl: It is now an ABC Cinema, Richard
His face has been protected well when you look at the rest of the stone. Amazing find, Lisl.
Lisl: He was one of quite a few, Care, all in good condition
What an expression! Friendship
Lisl: H'e been there a long time!
Is that a Green Man in stone Lisl?
Lisl: Not quite, Brian - more of what is called a foliate head

Great details...lovely find and image..
But rather scary, looking at us from that corner !!!He seems to be saying something too!!
Devi smile
Lisl: I don't really like his face, Devi, and you are wary, too!
Looks like a green man!
Lisl: I think of a Green Man as spewing vegetation, though many would call this one
Excellent, qui aurait méritait un petit redressement.
Lisl: An expensive job renewing stonework
