A bit to hot for the weather we have been experiencing lately.
Lisl: Yes - existing roads have melted in places
I remember as a kid Mums would send their kids out to stand by the tar wagon, supposedly good for them. Then it would be back to work for them cleaning chimneys...smile
Lisl: Isn't there a book called "The Tar Babies"?
Eew - and I can smell it...
Lisl: Quite an evocative smell

A ne pas toucher
JP
Lisl: Non!
The smells around this hot tar have to take in by the throat. I like the light captured on the tar
Lisl: It reminds me of my childhood. Thank you, Marie

When I had a sense of smell, I enjoyed the smell of hot tar When I had the opportunity as a child , I would follow the lorries spraying tar on the road before loose stone chippings where spread and then a proper steam roller would roll them into the tar.
Lisl: Oh yes, I remember that well!

Lisl: Thank you, Richard. The men seem to like this
Seeing an old fashioned Tar boiler takes me back, I thought they'd been done away wit years ago.
Lisl: I was surprised to see it, Brian
They used to hold kids over it to cure chest problems. No wonder life expectancy was lower back in "the good old days"
Lisl: Really? Gosh!
I remember the smell of this from childhood.
Lisl: Yes - it certainly recalls childhood, Mary
