Très jolie ferronnerie sur cette porte ancienne.
Lisl: Made by a very skilled blacksmith
They sure don't make them like that anymore, Lisl, do they!
Lisl: Gosh, no, Ginnie. I explored the Cathedral with Pauline earlier this year, and looked out for things that I hadn't photographed before

This is a wonderful piece of art, Lisl. Love the iron decorations.
Lisl: I always have a good look at ancient door furniture - this is some of the best I have encountered, Astrid

Well done Lisl, this mad door furniture is well worth recording
Lisl: It is - and I have many such pictures (though not so ornate) in my archive. I particularly like sanctuary-type rings
It is wonderful. Wells is a gem
Lisl: Wells still surprises after many years of visiting
This door is of a great beauty and you photographed it in a very beautiful light
Lisl: It is a fine door, thank you, Marie

That is amazing Lisl. If I was asked to design a hinge for the door I don’t think I would have been so elaborate. I might have just gone to Screwfix.
Lisl: Needs must, Chad! No Screwfix in those days

A blacksmith with imagination worked here.

I remember visiting this cathedral, back then ?1992? What impressed me most, was the choir practising as I walked in the cloisters (or someplace like cloisters). I sat down and listened for almost an hour. Sublime.
Lisl: Couldn't have been better for you, Louis. I am a "Friend" of Wells Cathedral, and get invited to all sorts of thing. I love it.

this is the most creative door that i have seen, Lisl. it must have taken some time to fabricate that.
Lisl: I often try to picture the people working on creations like this, Ayush
Wonderful, Elisabeth...
Lisl: Isn't it amazing, and people walk by and don't notice it
Such beautiful detail!
Lisl: Welcome back, Elizabeth. Hope you trip has been refreshing, apart from the fires of course
