Iron Standard

Used to hold the mace of the South Molton Corporation during Civic Ceremonies. This is particlaulry interesting because of its ancient date - from the reign on Charles II

Such an interesting object smile
Lisl: I hope it is firmly secures, or I can see it walking
It is quite remarkable! Nice lighting on your photo!
Lisl: I was delighted to come across it in the Church there
It is magnificent but it should not be easy to carry because certainly very heavy. The coat of arms of the center is magnificent and the depiction of the metal is excellent
Lisl: Yes - the coast of arms is naive but really good, Marie

Just think of the changes that have happened since this piece w made.
Lisl: Yes, and I also think of how many times this has been used, and is still in such good condition
Wonderful details and great presentation here, Lisl.
Lisl: Thank you, Astrid
Magnifique !!
Très belle photo
Lisl: Many, many thanks, Claudine. Bonne journée
How splendid, Lisl! I love it against the dark background.
Lisl: It is probably a piece without comparison, Ginnie

What a wonderful treasure in your church! I see lion and unicorn, but miss the French words "Honi soit qui mal y pense".
Lisl: Perhaps this is a corruption of the Royal Coast of Arms, Philine

The lion is trying to look like a smiling bulldog.
Lisl: He certainly looks beatific, Louis

i like the light here

in expecting to see the faces of mankind on the bodies, i was all the more intrigued
Lisl: It's a naive but charming creation, and has stood the test of time
I like the smiley Lion grin

It is a splendid artefact
Lisl: Isn't is a treat to find something like this? I didn't realise how special it was until I downloaded the picture
