Wow...brilliant illustrated history, Lisl.
Lisl: Good it still survives - the sort of sign that gets stolen to order these days
I LOVE when you show these! This is a wonderful photo!
Lisl: I will try to post more when I find them, Elizabeth
I love that. They sure make their measurements accurate. Down to the yard. A wonderful image.
Lisl: Amazing that someone apparently measured that!

I wonder if Tottenham House still exists Lisl?
Lisl: It does indeed, Chris. I trespassed on its land recently

Marlboro cigarettes sound familiar- but we are in old England - a wonderful find. I never heard the word 'furlongs' before.
Lisl: When I went to school in rural Ireland we had to learn about furlongs, but they were already out of date
Don't you miss the old measurements? The metric system is so dull
Lisl: I can't say I miss furlongs, Bill!
I am glad they have the distance down to the yards...
Lisl: Amazingly precise, I wonder if it is really correct
Furlongs, from furrow longs I presume, how on earth did they measure these? Chains was another odd measurement.
Lisl: One of my friends has a measuring wheel, used for marking out archery fields - he wondered if something similar was used

Lisl: Isn't it a great find!
What a piece of history!
Lisl: Tottenham House was built by the Seymour family formerly of nearby Wulfhall, where Henry VIII came courting his future Queen, Jane Seymour

I bet there are many stories to be told.
