Beautiful stained glass, captured very nicely!
Lisl: Thank you, Elizabeth - the whole window is wonderful, but the Church is always kept locked, so it is an effort of finding someone to open up

Ooooo...I like this glass!
Lisl: You would like the whole window, Ray - it commemorates a war hero, the Earl of Suffolk, who died diffusing a bomb in London in 1941. It also remembers the people who died with him, his secretary and chauffeur, who were his bomb disposal "team"
a very nice rendition of a sailing ship in stained glass work, Lisl.
Lisl: Detail from a wondrous window, Ayush, thank you

Lisl: This little roundel was quite small, just a detail on a larger window
Fabulous, Lisl. I love when we can find boats like this!
Lisl: I have another to show next week from he same window, Ginnie. If you care to look at this post again, I have given some background to Ray

Very agreeable Lisl, from a church?
Lisl: This is from the ever-locked church of Charlton by Malmsbury, and commemorates the Earl of Suffolk, who died diffusing a bomb in London in 1941. You may remember I met his son last year

A fine piece of stained glass and a fine depiction of the ship on a good day for sailing. I can't make out the full description around it; do you know what it said?
Lisl: They that go down to the sea in ships, These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep (Psalm 107)
It is wonderful and reading your replies it seems a shame it isn't open more for people to see
Lisl: Yes, it is - a story which would touch many hearts

I suppose you would have been flogged as a sailor to refer to a ship as a boat Lisl.
Lisl: When I worked in the Navy Department, one had to be very specific,Chad, but I never got flogged!
This stained glass is magnifiquent with its sailboat. I like also seagulls around.
Lisl: It is very fine glass indeed

You like your boats in stained glass smile Great shot.
Lisl: We certainly do, thank you, Louis. We are an island race
There are some lovely window designs like this in a very old quay side house at great Yarmouth, it wouldn't surprise me if the date from similar times.
Lisl: That is very interesting, Brian - this window dates from the 1940s if that helps
What a wonderful painting on the glass. Really beautiful with the birds.
Lisl: I though so too, Mary
Each panel is its own little picture. smile
Lisl: It is, Larry, and I have another light from this same window to show next week
