The headless sheep rustlers are at work whilst the shepherd sleeps off his over-indulgence in the local wine.
Lisl: So it would seem, Ray

Joli troupeau de moutons. Les bergers ont perdu la tête.
Lisl: Unfortunately mutilated, Martine

Ray has made the obvious comment Lisl. Where is this please?
Lisl: This is in St. Thomas's Church, Salisbury - part of a wooden memorial
Somebody has been counting sheep....
Lisl: So they have - I didn't think of that one, Frank
The shepherdess is put to sleep but sheeps are wise and do not go away. Attractive scupture
Lisl: It is sad that it has been mutilated, Marie
Young children are lost her head
Lisl: I think this might have been done during our Civil War, Marie
A shame the central couple have been damaged.
Lisl: The whole panel, which is much bigger than this detail, has been badly mutilated, Brian - such a shame

Oh well seen smile As usual, if there is any pause whilst herding sheep, then they will stop to eat. I'm trying to work out the material for this; is it wood?
Lisl: Yes, it is wood - from a 17th Century memorial in a Salisbury Church
This is not a good development...
Lisl: Such a shame.....
It is so sad that the shepherds are headless. Why to people deface (or dehead in this case) such beautiful art!?!
Lisl: This was probably defaced at the time of the Civil War here - a lot of Church damage happened then, and especially to stained glass
Looks like Bo Peep is sleeping on the job again
Lisl: I have never found her awake yet, Bill
headless and sleepy, the sheep are on their own, Lisl.
Lisl: They are, and they don't know it yet!!
What a fascinating bas relief, Lisl! I like your focus on this part of it!
Lisl: Thank you, Elizabeth - some of the rest of the memorial was even more badly defaced
