what a wonderful clock Lisl... Queen Vicky and all....petersmile
Lisl: Isn't it delightful, Peter
would that mean that this clock was installed as part of the celebrations, Lisl? i like the signs on the periphery.
Lisl: Almost certainly, Ayush. It is on a much older building called the Tolsey and has been in place since Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897, but there has been a
clock on the building since 1595

You don't just look at the time it is, you have to admire the ornaments around it!
Lisl: That is so true, but I understand it keeps perfect time too, thank you

It looks to be in wonderful condition. I would guess that the flags get replaced fairly often as there is no sign of any fade to the colours.
Lisl: It was completely refurbished in 2015, so looking good. If I looked out some earlier pictures which I have, I guess they would look more faded
Superbe pendule !
Lisl: It's a treasure, Martine

Magnificent Clock tribute to Victoria Quenn.
Lisl: It is lasting well, with a good refurbishment, Marie
What a wonderful clock, I like this sort of thing. Many, many years ago I stayed at Wootton overnight before going on to a meeting at Chipping Sodbury the next morning, I recall it being quite a pleasant little place althougn of course the bar also held my attention for quite a lot of the evening!
Lisl: Wootton is in one of my favourite walking areas, and I often lead walks from the town, Brian
As British as can be. Very old stone and brick on this building.
Lisl: The building is called the Tolsey House - it has an 18th century brick facade on a 17th century house
A magnificent clock in pristine condition
Lisl: Restored just 2 years ago, Martin
Beautiful shot...
Lisl: Nice bright day for it, Larry
superbe horloge!!! amitiés
Lisl: One of the best I know. Amitiés
Love the clock and your perfect capture of it smile
Lisl: Thank you, Cherie. I wonder if you have been to Wootton-under-Edge?
That certainly is a beauty.
Lisl: A very striking addition to the building, Michael

Queen Vicky is not so fierce looking in that clock decoration.
Lisl: She may have been softer than we know, Louis!

Terrific use of negative space to balance the scene. That clock is gorgeous!
Lisl: Thanks for that, Bonnie
Recently restored by the look of it. What a fine clock it is
Lisl: Yes - in 2015, Bill

One of the most beautiful public clocks I ever saw! I didn't know that there is also a verb 'to clock' (s. Chad's comment).
Lisl: Yes, that's tight, Philine - for example: to clock a particular time or speed in a race means to reach that time or speed.
Oh! very fine!!
Lisl: It is, Tom - quite striking!

A very unique clock and captured with absolute clarity! It is amazing that it still works. Not like what is made today!
Lisl: Nothing like today, Beth - this is a town treasure, thank you

It looks clean and well cared for!
