Original et joli comme bateau, j'aime bien.
Lisl: Merci bien, Martine
A lovely memorial isn't it...
Although I'm afraid it reminds me of a painted thimble in a hollowed out pickle...
Lisl: Well, that is fine, Elizabeth

I like the Boat Friday connection, Lisa, even though the sentiment made me think of Life of Brian by Month Python.
Lisl: Well - it made you think, Ray! Thank you

This is a great find. Escaped from the rough see so too see. Love the colours here.
Lisl: This was one "medallion" of three, Astrid - they were quite small

Sounds like someone was lucky then Lisl
Lisl: I would like to think this referred to a real, rather than an allegorical, event, Chris

Un détail qu'il ne fallait pas manquer, bien vu !
Lisl: I was delighted to find this - it was very small
How wonderfully impressive, Lisl. I have always liked that Psalm.
Lisl: I like its naivety

This is a very impressive detail-where did you find it?
Lisl: This is from the Parish Church of Barnstaple, Devon, Philine

I like the symbolism of the painting to illustrate the psalm. Well seen; I am assuming thatches is quite small.
Lisl: It was one of three small "medallions" on a much larger monument

Un bateau un peu insolite
JP
Lisl: It is indeed!
And now he looks all cosy in the boat Lisl. I love the painting.
Lisl: Isn't it delightful - I may show the other two
Noah cast adrift from the ark smile
Lisl: Did that happen to Noah?
The waves were high and effective. I can't help but notice the word mittens in Latin.
Lisl: Yes - it sort of jumps out
A fine littl medallion isn't it. It does look a bit like a man sitting in a rubber dinghy.
Lisl: Shades of thing to come, then
I love Elizabeth's pickle comment. My eyes keep going to the left side of the image with the nice roundness of the carving.
Lisl: The whole carving was beautiful - I will send it to you
He looks quite chirpy sitting in that boat Lisl
Lisl: He obviously trusts in that text, Bill
The sailor is dressed, um, interestingly.
Lisl: This is 17th Century, Larry - all sorts of clothes in those days
what a spectacular find for Boat Friday Philine....petersmile
Lisl: A bit unusual, thank you, Peter
is Philine your sister by any chance Lisl..
sorry... Duhh a senor moment....petersmile
Lisl: No problem, Peter, I have senora moments!
A gorgeous image.
Lisl: Thank you, Michael
