It's just a fat blob Lisl.

J'ai du mal sur cette image à  distinguer clairement sa tête. J'ai l'impression qu'il ne veut pas nous montrer sa face ?
Lisl: I was sorry only to get an eye on t he face and not the beak, but it would not move its face!

I really like your composition, Lisl.

Hard to tell if the critter is looking towards us or has its head turned the other way.
Lisl: I know - I regret that his face is not clearer, but you can see his eye

Looking pretty smile

Did you not like your Panasonic?
Lisl: I didn't get on with my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. So many of the controls were hidden in the menus, and by the time I had changed them, very often the moment had gone. But I still have my Lumix FZ45 which I use for insect photograohy
Very pretty plumage!
Lisl: He is really smart, Elizabeth

You're having great fun, Lisl, I can tell. BRAVA!

The ever elegant male Stonechat

You are on the same page as Louis today. Where are the legs and the beak of the birdie?
Lisl: The legs are very spindly and visible in the foliage, Philine. Unfortunately the beak is the same colour as the surrounding plumage, and has merged with it in this picture

How can he stand there on just one spindly leg? I have a job to manage on flat ground with two legs some days. I love his "pillow hair smile
Lisl: The other leg is just visible parallel to his tail feathers, Alan, thank you
He is lovely. If you download the NIK software (free from google, or at least it was) you could try Colour efex pro to pull out some detail
Lisl: Thank you, Bill - I was not happy with the face, but liked the rest of the picture

Lisl: A smart little fellow
A black masked fellow that we don't have here.

Ah ! A stonechat with attitude.
Lisl: They are such perky little birds, Hugh
I can see what you mean about its beak, but it is still a good picture. It's worth following Bills suggestions about the NIK software, once your image is loaded just play with the sliders until you get the hang of what each does.
Lisl: Thanks for the follow-on tip, Brian

Looks a lot like our stonechats. Trick I do to make a face like this clearer, is to select it with the magic wand and lessen the shadows.
Lisl: Thank you for the tip, Louis
great capture with your Coolpix Lisl... the bird is beautiful and i love the tangle of brush that it is perched on....petersmile
Lisl: Thank you very kindly, Peter
